Description
Jenner's School, now a community room, was built in 1652. It is constructed from limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys, with a single storey schoolroom to the north, and is arranged in three bays. The entrance is located on the north side, featuring a gabled porch with a depressed three-centred arch and finials on the gable. There is one gabled window on the north side and three on the south side. An external flue is present on the north side. An extension, likely from the 19th century, includes a four-light transomed and mullioned window, while other windows are three-light, ovolo-mullioned with diamond lead glazing. The south elevation was restored around 1980. The school was established by Robert Jenner, a Goldsmith from London, through a legacy from his estate after his death in 1651. His monument can be found in the north aisle of the nearby church.
