Description

Candletree is a former vicarage, now a house, with origins dating from the 15th century, with later additions from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The building is constructed of limestone rubble and features a concrete tile roof. It has two storeys and a large irregular plan. The northern end includes work from the 15th century, while the rear shows remnants of an earlier wall that likely contains a 13th-century lancet window with two lights and a blind quatrefoil that illuminates the stairs. The west front, dating from the 18th century, has five irregular bays with 12-pane sash windows on the first floor and altered windows on the ground floor. The entrance features a door with a timber lintel and small flanking windows, also with wood lintels. There is a significant extension to the north-east from the 19th century, and the roof is hipped. Inside, there is a Tudor fireplace located at the north end.
