Description
16 Duke Street is a building dating from the 17th century or early 18th century. It has two storeys and features a stucco exterior on a stone plinth. The roof is covered with pantiles and has two brick chimneys. On the first floor, there is a single window to the left and two coupled windows, all with late glazed sashes set in plain stone surrounds. The ground floor has a blocked doorway that has been replaced with a glazing bar sash. There is a six-panel door with a three-pane rectangular fanlight above, all within a stone surround that includes a small cornice and a pediment supported by cut stone scroll brackets to the left. To the right on the ground floor, there are two coupled windows, matching those on the first floor. To the left, there is a lower extension that has two four-pane wide windows, and on the first floor, there is a 17th-century two-light ovolo mullion and transom window.
