Description

The railings at numbers 6 and 7 Barn Street date from the late 18th century and are situated at the front of an older building. The building itself is two stories high and constructed of red brick, with wide, flat eaves and an old tile roof. A long wing extends to the back and along the side of the forecourt of Wye House, featuring a timber frame with colourwashed brick infilling and an old tile roof. The front facade has four windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor, all with five panes. There are two six-panel doors, placed between the windows and topped with flat, moulded hoods featuring panelled soffits supported by cut brackets. A stable entry is located to the left. The front of the building is distinguished by fine 18th-century railings with scroll panel standards topped with scroll pyramids and urn finials, which return to the walls on either side of the doors, with a half standard against the wall. Numbers 1 to 11, inclusive, form a group.
