Description

The cart shed at Manor House is an early 19th-century structure built for the Longleat Estate. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone with brick dressings and features a pantiled roof. The front is open, supported by overhanging eaves and 'aisle' posts. The right side has a blocked opening and a loophole. Inside, the shed has a 5-bay aisled roof supported by jowled aisle posts, with a collar and tie-beam. This aisled design likely accommodates the overhanging eaves at the front. The south bay includes a boarded and limewashed loft granary, which has two small square openings at the front. This cart shed and the adjacent stable form a pair of buildings that face the east side of the barn range across an open yard.
