Description

Cradlebridge House is an 18th-century building that was formerly a parsonage. It is two storeys high and constructed of brick with stone quoins. The house features a moulded plinth and cornice, and a stone parapet with coping. The slate roof adds to its character.

On the garden front, there are three windows on the first floor, each four panes wide, with sashes set in moulded stone architraves and a plain frieze that extends up to the cornice. The ground floor originally had two similar windows, but these have been altered to French casements with decorative top parts that are not in keeping with the original style. The central entrance features a nine-panel door, with the top panels glazed, set in a plain stone surround. This door is topped with a flat moulded stone hood supported by cut stone brackets.

At the rear, there are two ranges of blind windows, and a central stair projection that includes a tall arched window and a saddlestone at the gable. A six-panel door is located on the ground level beneath a flat hood on cut brackets. To the west, there is a lower two-storey irregular service wing, built of stone and brick with a pantile roof. This wing originally faced north and features a brick dentil course over the ground floor and at the eaves. Notably, it has a fine ledged and battened door with original wrought iron hinges and a knocker, indicating it is older than the main block.

The back court is paved with pitched herringbone brick, and there are rustic gatepiers leading to the road. The gates feature arrow head rails, dog rails, and arch braces on the top rails.
