Description
Numbers 103 and 105 are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from rendered limestone rubble and feature a gable and axial stack. The front has a stone slate roof, while the rear is covered with pantiles. The layout consists of single-depth front and rear ranges separated by an axial passage.
The houses are two storeys tall with an attic and have a three-window range for No.103 and a two-window range for No.105. They have stucco quoins and a fine fretwork canopy with a cornice below the eaves, which projects over the windows. No.103 has a central doorway with a mid-19th century pediment canopy, a panelled door, and plate-glass sash windows. No.105 features a left-hand doorway with a bracketed timber canopy, a narrow overlight, and a six-panel door, where the top two panels are glazed, along with 6/6-pane sash windows. Each house has a single gabled dormer with a plate-glass sash.
At the rear, there is an earlier parallel range with a brickwork band beneath the eaves that indicates a raised roof height. Inside No.105, there is an entrance stair hall featuring a mid-19th century dogleg stair with stick balusters, a cast-iron newel, and curtails on each side. The interior also includes stone fire surrounds, an axial passage, and steps leading down to the lower rear range.
