Description
The Old Rectory is a parsonage house, now a private residence, built in 1828 and enlarged between 1836 and 1839 for Thomas Mozley. The building features rendered and colourwashed brick and cob, topped with a slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a symmetrical plan consisting of three bays across the front and two bays in a rear wing on the left. An extension of the sitting room was added in the 20th century.
The central entrance leads to a stair hall, with a four-panelled door topped by an ornamental fanlight, now sheltered by a 20th-century gabled classical porch supported by columns. The windows are twelve and nine-paned sashes, with louvred shutters on the upper floor. The roof is hipped, featuring wide eaves and two lateral rendered stacks. A large canted bay was added to the right side of the house. Inside, there is a simple marble fire surround in the dining room, and the staircase has square set balusters and Tuscan newels.
