Description
Nos 35 and 37 on High Street is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It has been altered and is constructed from rendered rubble stone with a stone tiled roof. The building is 1 and a half storeys high and features two large dormer gables at the front.
On the upper floor, there are two early 19th-century tripartite sash windows with 4-12-4 panes. The ground floor has a modern door and window on the left with unmoulded surrounds, a central bolection-moulded doorcase with a hood supported by brackets, and a modern plate glass window. To the right, there is a large projecting 19th-century double-fronted shop front made of plate glass, which includes a recessed door and an overall fascia.
At the rear, on the right side, there are two blocked 2-light ovolo-moulded windows with hoodmoulds on the ground floor. The central rear wing has coping that rises to a ridge stack and features an upper 2-light ovolo-moulded window above a blocked door, along with a tripartite sash window and another upper 2-light ovolo-moulded window to the left of the ridge stack. To the left, there is a chimney gable with a shorter wing beyond, a coped west gable, and a west end stack.
