Description
Poles Hole Farmhouse is a late 16th-century farmhouse that was restored in 1880 and altered in the 20th century. The building features square-panelled timber-framing with brick nogging, including some herringbone panels, and has a tiled roof with a brick stack on the right. It consists of three bays and is single-storey with an attic, displaying a three-window front. The central door is from the 20th century, flanked by 20th-century casements. There are three gabled full dormers with 20th-century casements. The left side has 20th-century casements and a weatherboarded attic gable end. An attached single-storey outhouse on the right, now used as a kitchen, is constructed of rubble stone and brick. The right side of the main range is also rubble stone. The rear features 20th-century casements. The middle rail on the front of the timber-frame is inscribed with 'Restored 1880'. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey in June 1987.
