Description
Providence Chapel is a building dated 1841, constructed from limestone ashlar with raised quoins and a Welsh slate roof featuring coped verges. It has a gable end facing the road and is two stories high with a three-window front. The central door has arched panels, and there are round-arched 12-pane sash windows with keystones and imposts on either side. A sill band runs beneath three first-floor round-arched sashes, and there is a moulded cornice at the gable, which has plain square corner turrets that may serve as stacks. The right and left returns each have two tall round-arched windows with keystones and imposts, and the eaves are supported by stone corbels. At the rear, there is a two-storey schoolroom with 16-pane sashes and a planked door, topped by a hipped slate roof. Inside, the chapel features a west gallery supported by cast-iron posts and a reading desk located at the east end.
