Description
2, Kingston Road is an 18th-century building of three storeys plus a basement, situated contiguously with number 29 Silver Street. The building is constructed of ashlar and features a plain string course at first-floor level, a moulded cornice, and a plain parapet. The roof is covered with modern pantiles. It has five windows in total. These are sash windows, some with glazing bars, set within architrave surrounds, and have flat cornices over the first-floor windows. The ground floor incorporates one sash window in plain reveals. To the left of this window are two plain, square-headed doorways, and to the right, a blocked elliptical-arched opening leading to the rear of the property. A small shop window with a plain fascia supported by pilasters with sunk panels is located to the left of the front elevation. The building contributes to a group that includes numbers 27 to 29 (consecutive) Silver Street, numbers 3 to 8 (consecutive), The Shambles, numbers 2, 5, and 6, and The Kings Arms Hotel on Coppice Hill.
