Description
31 Silver Street is a Victorian extension to No 30, built after 1856. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of ashlar with glazed display fronts on all three floors. The front is divided by three ashlar piers: one on each side and one in the center where the two glazed sections meet at an angle. The ground-floor piers feature vermiculated blocks, the first floor has plain rustication, and the second floor showcases plain sunken panels. There is a Gothic offset motif between the first and second floors, adorned with elaborate entwined foliage, with the central offset featuring a finely carved head. The floors are separated by wooden panels, and the glazing on all three floors is divided by slender colonnettes topped with foliated capitals. Nos 30 to 35 Silver Street form a group.
