Description
Beversbrook Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1850 by Henry Weaver for the Poynder estate. It features an ashlar front with rubble stone and a stone slate eaves roof, complemented by paired ashlar end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range, designed in a Tudor/Jacobean style. It includes stone-mullion windows with hoodmoulds, a small Jacobean shaped gable above the centre window, and barge-boarded gables over the outer windows.
On the first floor, there are three 2-light windows, with the centre window featuring a blank shield above and carved head stops on the gable coping. The ground floor has projecting embattled square bays on each side, each with angle buttresses and 3-light windows. The central porch also projects and is embattled, featuring a four-centre arched door with a hoodmould and a stepped parapet above. The original ironwork can be seen on the four-centre arched door.
To the north, there is a single-storey addition with an end stack, which has a projected gabled centre with barge boards and a large canted bay with a 1:3:1-light mullion-and-transom configuration, topped with a roundel. At the rear, there are two parallel wings made of red brick with stone dressings. The south front of these wings has a two-window range of mullion windows and a lean-to porch with a Tudor door. The main house is topped with a picturesque timber bellcote located behind the ridge. Henry Weaver, who was the agent for the Poynder estate, designed this house for his own residence.
