Description

The Cemetery Gate, designed by William Butterfield, dates from after 1860. It is constructed of brick and features a tiled roof. The gate piers are battered back twice and support a timber-framed roof. The central section of the roof is raised, with an open-framed superstructure that encloses a cross and has a tiled pyramidal roof topped with an iron decorative finial. The gates are currently missing. The cemetery chapel, also designed by Butterfield and noted in the National Monuments Record, has been demolished.
