Description

The Blind House is a village lock-up located on the north side of High Street in Heytesbury. It is likely from the 18th century and constructed from limestone ashlar with a stone slate pointed roof. The building has an octagonal shape and features a plain square-headed doorcase with a planked studded door. Above the door is a small square light with iron bars. The roof is topped with a ball finial at the apex. Inside, there is a simple fitted wooden bench against the rear wall, and the ceiling is an ashlar dome. The Blind House is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument, listed as Wiltshire No 254.
