Description

Pomeroy Farmhouse and outbuilding is a farmhouse dating from the mid 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of random rubble stone and features a double Roman tiled roof with a coped verge to the left, along with brick and stone stacks. The building has a two-storey, three-window layout, with a large early 19th-century gabled porch on the right side that includes a four-panelled door. To the right and left of the porch are pairs of 19th-century twelve-pane sash windows.

On the first floor, there are two 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements in the main range, a 3-light mullioned casement with leaded lights and a hoodmould in the first floor of the cross wing, and a 2-light window in the attic above. The left side of the building has a 2-light 19th-century first floor casement, indicating previous alterations against the gable end wall. The rear of the farmhouse features a planked door in a 19th-century porch, a 3-light ovolo-mullioned casement, and a planked door to the left, with a pair of sashes and a single 19th-century light to the right. The first floor includes a 3-light mullioned casement with a truncated attic gable to the left, a single ovolo-moulded light, and both 2-light and 3-light mullioned casements to the right, all with hoodmoulds.

Attached to the right of the farmhouse is a rubble stone outbuilding and a 10-bay open-fronted shelter shed supported by square rubble stone piers, also with a double Roman tiled roof. The interior was not accessible during the survey in July 1987, but it is reported to have deep chamfered beams with stepped stops, planked doors, and an open stone fireplace with a depressed Tudor-arched lintel in the room to the left of the entrance.
