Description
The railway bridge over Bath Road in Chippenham was built between 1839 and 1840 by Isambard K Brunel for the Great Western Railway. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with a brick lining and has a trapezium plan. The facades of the semicircular-arched bridge feature semi-elliptical arches that are flanked by wide buttresses. These are topped with platbands and parapets. A 20th-century pedestrian tunnel has been added to the north side of the bridge.
