Description
This is an 18th-century building of three storeys, located on the east side of St John's Street. Number 9 has a stuccoed facade, while the rest of the building is pebble-dashed. A moulded wooden cornice runs above the second-floor windows. The roof is covered in lead and has wooden coping, with pantiles visible. The upper floors have six windows; on the first floor, the three windows to the left are coupled, while the three to the right are single. All windows are set within flush architraves. The ground floor features a series of shop fronts. Number 6 has a pair of four-light windows with three panes each, arched heads, and central double-glazed doors (one of which is false). These are framed with pilasters, a plain frieze, and a cornice that projects forward over the pilasters, with side panels above the doors. Small basement grilles are located below the shop windows. Numbers 7 and 8 have 20th-century shop fronts, and number 9 has a repeating design but was altered in the 19th century to incorporate large, plain windows.
