Description

By Brook Culvert is a Grade II listed structure made of Bath stone ashlar, featuring a rubble Bath stone soffit and patching in engineering brick on the north face. The south face of the culvert showcases a horseshoe arch that begins at water level, with bold voussoirs radiating from it and a prominent keystone. Raked abutments flank each side, and there is plain coping without a parapet. In contrast, the north face is simpler, lacking voussoirs. The east abutment and part of the arch ring on this face have been refaced with engineering brick, and two metal pipes have been installed above the arch. A footpath runs over the south end of the culvert. The structure spans the By (or Box) Brook.
