Description
Manor Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a concrete tiled roof, originally thatched except for the north end. The farmhouse comprises a single-and-a-half-story original range, with a two-and-a-half-story section added in the early 19th century. The original range has end stacks and coped gables at both the south end and east front, the east front gables containing a four-light and a three-light timber mullion window with ovolo-moulded mullions. Renewed lintels are present. The ground floor features a raking buttress to the left, a casement pair, a glazed door, and a four-light timber mullion window. A low stone slate-roofed addition extends from the south end. The north end is tall and has a mansard roof with ashlar end stacks, coped gables, and a small boarded dormer. The east front is windowless, with the stonework continuous with the older range, suggesting a raising rather than a complete rebuilding. A chamfered north-east angle is visible, alongside paired 12-pane sashes on each floor of the north end wall, and a coved cornice with an attic window. The rear of the original range features a porch, a dormer gable and a projecting gabled stair tower, the latter of which has a two-light timber mullion window. Within the porch is a depressed-arched four-panel door. The interior includes a Tudor-arched stone fireplace and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
