Description
26 Castle Street is a late 18th century building, dating from around 1800. It is set back with a paved forecourt and consists of three storeys made of white brick on a stone plinth. The building features a moulded cornice and a stone blocking course. The symmetrical front has three windows on the upper floors and two on the ground floor, with the entrance located to the left. All windows are recessed sashes, four panes wide, with stone block sills and flat brick arches. The entrance door is recessed and consists of six panels, four of which are glazed. Above the door is a semi-circular fanlight, with a glazing pattern that features a circle enclosing a diamond and a painted neo-classical head. The doorcase is framed by engaged Roman Doric columns that support a curved entablature with a key pattern frieze and a moulded dentil cornice.
