Description
The barns and attached range of outbuildings to the east of Ruckley House consist of two barns, loose boxes, and cowsheds. The large barn on the left is likely from the 17th century, while the rest of the buildings date from the 18th and 19th centuries, with some alterations made in the early 20th century. This long range is located on the east side of the courtyard and is constructed of coursed rubble with stone slate roofs, except for the loose box section nearest the garage, which is made of brick with cement render.
The large barn features a central full-height midstrey on the west facade with plank gates. To the right, there is a later outshut that includes two casement windows. The east facade has a carriage entrance with a large wooden lintel and plank gates, along with two window openings. The smaller barn has steps leading up to a loft, and the cowshed at the south end is supported by circular stone piers. The loose boxes have plank gates and 6-pane sash windows. Inside the large barn, the roof structure has been completely renewed.
