Description
These are a group of four terraced houses, numbers 8 to 12 Yerbury Street, dating from the 1790s. They form a lower continuation of the terrace at numbers 4 to 7. The houses are built of red brick and originally had three stories, with a consistent number of windows per house. The original windows were three-light mullion sash windows with beaded inner edges. Number 8 retains all its mullions, while numbers 10 and 11 have mullions remaining on the ground and first floors, and number 9 only has ground floor mullions. Most windows have been replaced with three-light casement windows. The door surrounds have been altered, with relieving arches to numbers 8 and 10; most are partially glazed. Number 9 is set back with a modern concrete lintel, number 11 has a door with four flush molded panels and two glazed upper panels, and numbers 8 and 12 have been painted, while number 11 has rendered front elevation. The roofs are double roman tile, grouped over numbers 8 and 9, and again over numbers 10, 11 and 12, with five brick ridge chimneys. The properties are part of a larger group, which includes numbers 4 to 14, the wall to the southeast of number 14, and numbers 17 to 21, which are of local interest.
