Description

The six Rich family monuments are located in the churchyard southwest of the tower of All Saints Church. These monuments, dating from the early 19th century, are constructed of ashlar and consist of a row of six chest tombs.

Starting from the north, the first monument is dedicated to Joseph Rich Sr, featuring concave-sided hexagonal plaques on each side set against a horizontally reeded background, with broad floral drops on either side and a musk drop on the end piers. The inscription notes that Joseph Rich Sr died in 1811.

The second monument is for S.P. Rich, characterized by plain slab sides and incised line borders around two plaques on each side, topped with a moulded cornice. It commemorates Susanna P. Rich, who died in 1843.

The third monument is for Charles Rich Sr, displaying a profile with curved ends and baluster angles, along with oval plaques on each side. Although it appears to be from the early 19th century, it bears inscriptions for Charles Rich Sr, who died in 1759, and his children, who died between 1733 and 1744.

The fourth monument, dedicated to Charles Rich Jr, is identical in style to the third and commemorates Charles Rich Jr, who died in 1739. This monument is also likely from the early 19th century.

The fifth monument honors William Rich, featuring large raised oval plaques on each side, decorated raised angle piers, a moulded cornice with a fluted frieze, and oval end plaques. The inscriptions indicate that William Rich died in 1804 and Mary Rich died in 1821.

Lastly, the sixth monument is for John Rich, dating from the mid to later 19th century. It has a trapezoidal shape with a cross-gabled capstone and angle antefixae, inscribed to John Rich, who died in 1873.
