Description

The three Fry monuments are located in the churchyard east of the chancel of All Saints Church. These chest tombs, made of ashlar, commemorate members of the Fry family and date from the 18th to early 19th centuries.

The first monument, dedicated to Thomas Fry, is situated about 4 meters east of the southeast angle of the chancel and dates from the early 19th century. It features two fielded plaques on each side, but is incorrectly assembled, with the scrolled centre pier positioned to the left on both sides. It also has scrolled angle piers, a moulded base, and a capstone. The north side bears an inscription for Thomas Fry, who died in 1831.

The second monument, honoring William Fry, is located about 1 meter south of the first and shares a similar design, though it lacks the scrolled centre pier. It has fielded end panels, and the south side features an inscription for William Fry, who died in 1836.

The third monument, for Ann Fry, is positioned about 1 meter east of the second and dates from the late 18th century. It includes two shield plaques on each side, fielded centre and angle piers, a moulded base, and a cornice. The pulvinated frieze is broken forward over the piers. The north side has inscriptions for Ann Fry, who died in 1773, and Robert Fry, who died in 1777.
