Description
Avon Cottage is a cottage that likely originated as part of a larger house, dating from around the 18th century, although it may contain earlier fabric inside. The exterior features a knapped flint front with red brick dressings and a thatched roof with gabled ends. There is a brick stack on the right side. The plan suggests it is probably a one-room layout with a front lobby entrance located against the gable end stack on the right. It is likely that this cottage was originally part of No 2, which dates back to the 16th or early 17th century. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear. The building is one storey with an attic and has a one-window front. The windows are 20th-century three-light casements, with the top one positioned under eyebrowed eaves. A 20th-century door is located to the right in a segmental arch doorway, and there is a large flat-roof extension at the rear. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
