Description

The barn at Samways is an early 18th-century structure located in Alvediston Village. It features a rubble stone plinth with weatherboarding on a timber frame or English bond brick, topped with a half-hipped tiled roof. The barn consists of five bays and has central double doors made of corrugated iron, along with three 2-light leaded casements to the left. Inside, there are inserted floors, and the tie-beam roof includes vertical struts to the principals, a collar, tension bracing from the tie-beam to the main posts, and two tiers of butt purlins.
