Description
The Crown Inn is a pair of semi-detached cottages that date back to the mid-17th century and have been converted into an inn. The building is constructed of painted rubble stone with some brick and features a half-hipped thatched roof with a brick chimney. It is a single-storey structure with an attic and has a four-window front. There are planked doors set in hipped thatched porches on both the left and right sides, along with two 3-light and two 2-light casement windows. The first floor includes four 2-light casements located in eyebrow dormers.
On the right side, there is a hipped porch, and to the right of that is a 20th-century extension with an external stack and casements. The left side also has an attached 20th-century extension, and there is another extension at the rear. Inside, the building features chamfered beams with run-out stops, and the former rear wall is timber-framed with blocked open fireplaces. The northern part of the building is currently undergoing repairs and re-roofing due to damage from a fire in 1984.
