Description
Leigh Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed from limestone rubble with a stone slate roof, although some concrete slates have been added to the rear. The building is two stories high with an attic and consists of three bays, featuring a central two-bay rear wing. It has a lobby entry plan with an off-centre six-panelled door leading into the lobby. A staircase is located at the rear of a double stack in the rear projection. The windows are sixteen and twenty-pane sashes, which were being replaced in May 1985. The roof is half hipped. The rear wing is also two stories and was built at the same time as the front block. There is a later 17th-century extension that was likely originally a dairy. The rear wing includes some ovolo stone mullioned windows. Inside, the left room features 16th-century moulded ceiling beams and chamfered joists that were reset from elsewhere in the 17th century. The central bay has a stone fireplace with a depressed arch and a spiral stair. The roof consists of four trusses and tenoned purlins.
