Description

Leigh House is a late 17th-century farmhouse, now a detached house. It is constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof and stone stacks. The original design was two storeys and four windows wide. The central doorway has been blocked and replaced with leaded windows, with a three-light recessed hollow chamfered mullioned casement window on either side. A continuous string course runs above the former doorway. The first floor has a two-light mullioned casement window over the door, with a three-light mullioned casement window on either side. On the right return are 20th-century mullioned casement windows to the ground floor and first floor, along with a two-light mullioned casement to the attic. The rear of the house features a 20th-century porch, a three-light mullioned casement window to the cellar on the left, a three-light mullioned casement to the ground floor, a two-light window giving light to the staircase, and a three-light window to the first floor. A rear gabled stack is also present. A single-storey extension, likely from the early 20th century, is attached to the left return. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey in May 1987. The property was formerly known as Blackacre Farm.
