Description

Fir Tree Cottage is an estate dwelling and workshop, now a house, built around 1900 for Joseph Lovibond of Lake House. The structure features in-situ chalk concrete with integrated vertical timber framing and has a tiled roof that replaced the original thatch. It consists of seven by four frame bays, with the entrance located on the north side, which includes a door with a glazed panel. The cottage has timber paned casement windows and a brick stack at the corner. The upper floor is said to have originally served as a weaving shed without intermediate partitions, showcasing an unusual use of in-situ concrete.
