GREAT SOMERFORD TOP STREET Two monuments in churchyard about 2m south east of rood-stair of Church of St Peter and Paul

GV II

Two chest tombs, early C19 and later C18, ashlar. From north: a) Unidentified monument, early C19 with plain framed side plaques and reeded centre and angle piers. Capstone has applied oval centre plaque. b) Shipton monument, later C18, with baluster angles, slab sides and low relief rococo framing to plaques. North inscription to Elizabeth Shipton died 1763, south to Francis Shipton, died 1799.
