Description
Draycott Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th to 17th centuries, with an 18th-century section. The earlier part is built of brick with a timber-framed upper floor, while the 18th-century section features squared limestone and a refacing of the earlier part with brick laced malmstone. The building has a double ridged pantiled roof and consists of two storeys, each with three bays, plus a one-bay rear wing from the 18th century on the right. The original plan has been altered and is not easily decipherable. The later construction includes raised quoins, and the door position has been changed. It features a renewed fluted doorcase and an 18th-century moulded canopy supported by consoles carved with thistles. The door is from the 20th century, and the windows and openings have been adjusted in the 20th century as well. There is a 19th-century barge board at one end, which shows exposed timber framing with brick infilling, jowled posts, and corner braces. The farmhouse likely stands on the site of the manor of a deserted village, which was first recorded as part of a Domesday estate.
