Description

Avon Cottage is a pair of houses, now combined into a single dwelling, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with limestone dressings. The front left-hand elevation has a later external stone chimney and a stone slate roof. The houses originally had a single-depth plan. They are two storeys and an attic in height, with a 1:2-window facade. The window and doorway openings have segmental arches. Formerly, doorways were situated on each side of the party wall; a 20th-century boarded door is present. The right-hand house has a blocked doorway and two first-floor windows. Windows contain single glazing bars, with a 20th-century replacement window on the ground floor to the left. A central, gabled dormer window is visible in the roof. The right-hand side of the building features large, irregular quoins. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
