Description
Woodfalls Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brick and features a tiled roof with brick stacks. The building is designed in a T-plan, with a wing of the original 17th-century house partly demolished.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a 19th-century porch to the left of the main range, which includes a six-panelled door flanked by casement windows, all featuring segmental heads and keystones. The original 17th-century section has no windows on the former rear side. The roof is twin-gabled with saddleback coping at the verges and pinnacles.
On the left return, there is a four-panelled 19th-century door to the left of the wing, while the main range has a three-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window on the ground, first, and attic floors, with three brick plat bands at each floor level. The rear has 19th-century English bond brickwork closing off the truncated wing, with no windows. To the left of the main range, there is a two-light casement on the ground floor and a three-brick plat band at the first floor, which has a two-light casement in an ovolo-moulded case, missing a mullion. The right return features three-light and two-light casements on all floors.
Attached to the left of the front is a single-storey 19th-century extension that includes planked doors, casements, and a tiled roof. The interior was not accessible during the survey in January 1985, but it is reported to contain chamfered beams with ogee stops and open fireplaces.
