Description
East Dunley Farmhouse is an estate farmhouse built in 1842 for Joseph Neeld of Grittleton. It is constructed from squared rubble stone and features stone slate roofs, with moulded coping on the gables, ball finials, and ashlar stacks. The building is two storeys tall and designed in a plain Tudor style, showcasing small-pane casements in flush mullion windows.
The west front has twin gables and a drip course, with a first floor that includes a 3-light window, a single light window, and another 3-light window, all featuring unmoulded hoodmoulds. The ground floor has 4-light mullion and transom windows on either side of a heavily detailed gabled porch, which is dated JN 1842. The porch has shouldered ashlar coping, a doorway framed by a moulded architrave with a keystone, and windows on each side in a similar style with keystones.
The long south side of the farmhouse has two ridge stacks, with the roof slightly lower just behind the front range. It includes a three-window range of 2-light windows, where the upper windows have hoodmoulds and the lower windows are mullion-and-transom with a drip course above. To the right, there is a dairy and cheese room featuring nine small horizontal vents arranged in three tiers, along with a lower outbuilding to the east. The short east side has a large outside stack, with a 3-light window above and 4-light mullion-and-transom windows below. The east side of the dairy and cheese room range includes a lean-to at ground floor level and small first floor lights.
