Description
Gaston's Farmhouse is a red brick farmhouse dating from around 1850, with ashlar dressings, a low-pitched slate pyramid roof, and an ashlar chimney stack at the centre. It is a formal, rectangular building with a three-window front and two-window sides. The windows are small-paned casements set in stone mullion surrounds and have hood moulds. Most windows are two-light, except for a single-light window on the first floor centre, above an ashlar enclosed porch with a parapet, dripcourse and a door also with a hood mould. Small windows with hood moulds are located on either side of the porch. The farmhouse features raised ashlar angle piers, a plinth, and an eaves band. The eaves have a boarded soffit. An attached range of low farm buildings is present. This is an unusually intact example of a mid-19th century farmhouse.
