Description

Wharf Cottage is a late 18th-century cottage situated on the south bank of the Kennet and Avon Canal, dating from between 1786 and 1810. The front is constructed of ashlar, while the sides and rear are of dressed stone, and the roof is covered with Welsh slate, featuring an axial concrete block stack. The cottage is two storeys high with a three-window front. A central 20th-century door is topped by a flat stone hood supported on brackets. There are 16-pane sashes to either side of the door. A plat band runs along the first floor, above which is a central blind window and a further 16-pane sash to each side. A flat-roofed 20th-century extension is situated at the rear.
