Description
Ockwells Glove Factory is a building that was originally constructed as a town hall in 1861, replacing a 16th-century raised town hall located in the center of High Street. It is now used as a glove factory. The structure is made of squared limestone rubble and features a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays.
The central part of the building includes an arched carriage entrance with four-panel gates that fold back into wall rebates. To the left of the entrance, there is a shop window with a central entrance and cornice, along with a glazed central door. To the right, above a rendered plat band, there are 20-pane sash windows. The building has boxed eaves and a central statue of Ceres, along with a datestone that reads 1861. The ashlar gable stacks add to the architectural detail. The statue is reputed to have come from the Great Exhibition of 1851.
