Description
This is an 18th-century barn located to the southeast of Showell Farmhouse. It is constructed of rubble stone with timber-framed side walls that are clad in corrugated iron. The roof is made of Bridgwater tiles and features coped gables. The barn has a projecting gabled east cart-entry with lean-to additions on either side. The side walls rest on a rubble stone plinth, and the south end has a blocked Tudor-arched opening. Inside, the barn has a three-bay, two-purlin roof supported by tie-beam-and-collar trusses. A map from 1775 shows the barn as part of the Showell and Notton lands owned by T. Kington.
