Description

This is a farmhouse dating from the 16th to 18th centuries, constructed with a timber-frame, rubble stone, and some roughcast, featuring stone slate roofs. It is two storeys and has an attic. The north front is timber-framed, with a large projecting rubble stone central stack and a projecting rubble stone crosswing to the right. The timber-frame has a rubble stone plinth and angle braces, with a ground floor casement pair on each side, and triple and pair casement dormers above. To the right of the timber-frame is a rubble stone section containing a door and an eaves-breaking dormer. The crosswing’s end wall has a two-light timber-mullioned attic window, a two-light ovolo-moulded window to the first floor, and a two-light recessed chamfered mullion window with a hoodmould on the ground floor. The east end of the timber-framed range displays exposed square framing with angle braces, a row of three attic casements, and a pair of 18th-century two-light casements to the right of a blocked 17th-century three-light ovolo-moulded timber mullion window. A rear wing, dating to the 18th century, displays two-light flush cyma-moulded windows on its east and west sides. The west front of the crosswing is a roughcast range, likely from the late 17th century, with a ridge stack, two hipped dormers, and ovolo-moulded mullion windows with leaded glass to the main floors. The west front originally had five two-light windows above and three two-light windows below, formerly under a single hoodmould, which has now been broken to accommodate an inserted door with brackets, and a single three-light window with a hoodmould remains to the right. The interior was not inspected.
