Description

The cartshed at Dean Farm, dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, is an open-fronted building that is timber framed and features a thatched roof. It consists of four bays and has jowled posts with curved braces supporting the plate. The roof structure includes tile beams with raking struts to the collar and principals, which are diminished over clasped purlins, and the roof itself is hipped. Attached to the east side of the kitchen garden wall, the wall is made of 17th-century brickwork and returns on the north side with central piers. It also incorporates a low-level 3-light stone-mullioned window.
