Description
The Quayside Hotel is part of a pair of houses that were originally four separate houses, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The buildings have solid rendered fronts designed to imitate ashlar stone and feature slated roofs. There is a red-brick chimney on the left side wall. The right-hand house has four storeys, while the left-hand house has three storeys, and each house is two windows wide. The right-hand house includes three bow windows on the ground floor, and all windows are fitted with 10-paned sashes that have horns. The upper-storey windows feature box-framed sashes, with the right side having 2 over 2 panes and the left side having 8 over 8 panes; the 8-paned sashes on the second and third storeys appear to be original. Both houses have a flat boxed eaves-cornice. The left-hand house has a late 20th-century hotel entrance to the right. The windows here have 2-paned sashes with horns, each sash featuring a single horizontal glazing bar. The front of the building is flanked by rusticated pilaster strips.
