Description
This is a pair of mirrored houses located on King Street in Lower Brixham. They were built in the early 19th century. The houses have solid rendered walls and a slate roof, with a rendered chimney at each end. They are three stories high, with each house featuring one window and an adjacent doorway in the centre.
Number 75 has a ground-floor square wooden bay window with key-patterned pilasters and an entablature featuring small pendants on the architrave and paired modillions to the cornice. It has 8-paned sashes at the front and 4-paned sashes on the sides. The upper-storey windows at Number 75 have late 20th-century plastic frames, whereas all windows at Number 77 have mid-20th-century metal frames. Rusticated pilaster strips are present at each end of the combined front facade. A boxed eaves-cornice completes the appearance.
The interiors were not inspected, but Number 75 is said to have an old sail loft at the rear. The buildings are included on the list for their group value.
