Description

The walls of Paignton Harbour date to 1838 and were constructed following the Paignton Harbour Act of that year. They are built from local red breccia and old red sandstone, brought to course. The harbour walls form the harbour's enclosure and are partially built against the red sandstone cliff face on the landward side. The harbour was later linked to the esplanade in 1938.
