Description

No. 9 East Street is a commercial building dating from around 1870. It is constructed of ashlar limestone with a brick return to Harding Street and features a hipped slate roof. The building is two stories tall and has three bays, with a two-bay return. There is a door located in the splayed corner, which is central to East Street, and both entrances have a bracketed canopy. The facade is set behind end pilasters that return as a plinth, a plain plat band, and a cornice, all of which are entirely plain. The windows on the upper floor are 16-pane sashes with heavy plain surrounds and bracketed sills. On the ground floor, there are shop windows on either side of the splayed corner. The eaves are boxed, and the return elevation is similar to that of East Street but features a field of brick.
