Description
Nos 2 and 3 Sheep Street is a building, likely from the mid-18th century, situated on a much older site. It stands two and a half storeys tall and has five bays. The structure is built of rubble with flush ashlar quoins and quoined dressings. It features a coved cornice with a moulded cornice at the eaves and a stone tile roof that includes two gabled dormers and two ridge chimneys. One chimney is located on the right-hand gable and has a weathered base with a brick block cornice. The windows are glazing bar sash types set in flush moulded frames. On the ground floor, there are two large Edwardian square bays with four windows each, along with a wide segmental archway that shows traces of a painted sign reading ".... Smith, Dealer, Foreign Spirits." The arch has a key and chamfered corners, with a door to the right. Beyond the door, there is a window next to a loose ashlar block that is dated "E.W. 1763."
