Description
The Harrow Inn is a very picturesque thatched inn, dating from the 18th century but likely having older origins. It stands two and a half storeys tall and is constructed of painted rubble, with a left-hand brick extension from the 19th century and brick dressings to the windows, also from the mid-19th century. The gable end is positioned at right angles to the right and features a half-hipped roof, a small lead lattice casement in the attic, and a bay window on the ground floor. The main section has two chimneys and a small dormer that is cut into the thatch. To the left, there are two mid-19th century two-storey wooden bays, while the right side has two casement windows. There are also two half-glazed doors with thatched porches. The 'L' shaped extension to the right includes a stable door and a large stone chimney to the north. To the north, there is a detached stable block or barn made of rubble, likely from the 18th century, but now roofed in corrugated iron and partly weatherboarded, which is not of special interest. Inside, there is a smoke jack in the central ground floor fireplace.
