Description
27 High Street is a two-storey building located on an irregular corner site, with parts dating from various periods. The front facing High Street is primarily from the late 18th century but was altered in the mid-19th century. It features a pebbledash exterior and an asbestos slate roof. The left side has one bay with a parapet, while the right side is set back under a continued roof slope. The central section has two bays with cross-glazed sash windows. There are two set-back 18th-century brick chimneys. The rear of the building is partly constructed from rubble. The return to Lechlade Street includes a right-hand bay that is part of the late 18th-century structure, finished in painted rubble. To the left, there is an early 19th-century two-bay extension with three surviving glazing bar sashes and a stone tile roof. The building features stone lintels, brick quoins, and quoined brick dressings. Notably, the gable end facing north has a date stone inscribed with "HB.WB." and the year "1616". A rubble garden wall is included for its group value, and the building occupies an important corner position adjacent to the churchyard.
